Handbuilding is one of the oldest techniques of making ceramics: it is about reconnecting with your hands as the main tool. Once you learn how to, you will discover that only a few wooden tools (besides your hands) will be needed to create a simple vase.
During this 2 hrs workshop you will learn the basics of working with pinching and coiling to make a vase, enjoying an intuitive and meditative process. I will take care of slow drying and firing your work (small size work firing included in the price/ bigger size firing for a small extra fee).
All levels welcome: beginner or experienced, wherever you are in your pottery journey I will be happy to teach you the needed skills (*if you have experience you will probably manage to make a bigger or more intricate piece, if not, a small vase will be a double start :)
The great thing of hand building is that once you have this knowledge, you can easily continue practice and create at home since it does not require a pottery wheel.
*the images shown are indicative of the process, you will have freedom to choose details, shape and size you feel happy and comfortable with. The choice of the ideal claybody will be advised according to your ideas and availability.

In 2018 I had the opportunity to join a community of women on the Rif mountains in Marocco, to learn how to make fully hand built vases: this experience was a milestone for me to understand how much hands can do. In this workshop I will teach you all the tips&tricks I learned.
